This stretched canvas, wood frame backing artwork is hand painted with mixed mediums and measures 16" x 24". It is hand painted with raw emotion by me, P. Mitchell (owner and artist of The Victorian Muse)
Many will ask the artist "what were you feeling, what were you thinking during this painting"
Here is my story behind this painting and for some who truly feel this painting it will take on various meanings. At least that is what I hope it will do. I hope this painting will connect with some and evoke an emotional connection. For me, "Surrender" isn't a feeling of defeat it is more of an emotion of trust, handing over control and having complete faith. I was feeling completely unsure and in a battle of having control over my journey as an artist and small business owner, how it was supposed to go; a battle of complete control over my life and how I thought it was meant to be but often that isn't the case. As you may know often Something or Someone, a higher being or celestial force will remind us that we are not always in control and things do not always go in the direction we imagined. I accepted this divine intervention and chose to "Surrender" and trust that God (for me it's God at least for you he/she may go by another name or possibly universal) was truly in charge and has already seen my future and that I should trust that my journey in the arts was not in fact over but rather just beginning as long as I maintain faith in my purpose. You see I have always known art was my passion and my purpose, but I couldn't see a way past my own nose. I was trying to force a square to fit into a circle. I wasn't trusting myself and I battled between giving over completely to faith. It was as if a voice within me finally said "we tried your way, are ready now to trust in me? I will lead you to where you are meant to be" Now whether it is God or the Universe that you believe in, have faith in and put your existence in the hands of so be it. This painting is meant to be spiritual and uplifting. To encourage you to not give up hope, encourage you to feel. I hope many of you can relate to this description and raw emotion as to why I created this piece. It isn't always easy for an artist to share the thoughts and feelings behind their work.
This is a true one of a kind, no prints have been made of this work of art, no mass productions, no repeats of any kind. It is a signed and dated piece from my personal collection.
I think it would look absolutely stunning framed but still beautiful as is.
